Noah Kahan’s breakout year continues with the arrival of a new single. After landing a streaming smash with “Hurt Somebody” (74 million accumulated Spotify streams and counting), the 21-year-old showed a lighter side on early summer single, “Come Down.” He now retreats to more contemplative ground, singing about his struggle for authenticity on the folk-tinged, hook-filled “False Confidence.” “[This] is a song I wrote when I felt like I was trying too hard to be what I thought an artist should be, instead of who I was,” the newcomer reveals.
“I felt like I was losing my identity in trying to reach for some unattainable picture of a successful person; confident, polished, secure,” Noah continues. “I wrote ‘False Confidence’ to remember not to take myself so seriously.” With deeply-textured, instantly-catchy songs like this in his discography, the singer/songwriter’s star will continue to rise on his own terms. We’re excited to premiere “False Confidence” below. If you like what you hear, Noah is embarking of a tour this fall. See the dates and get your tickets here.
