On Tuesday (August 14), Selena Gomez jumped on a friend’s Instagram live chat to let fans know that her album is finally done. Today, she fired up her own and gave a lot more information including a song title. “Well, my favorite song is ‘Rare.’ It’s beautiful. I can’t wait for you guys to here it,” the pop star raved, before realizing she might have said too much. “Ok, I didn’t say any names… it’s one word in a song that I like. I’m so anxious. I just want to play my music and it sounds really fun. I’m not done, but I’m basically done.”
It turns out that “Rare” was written with Sir Nolan (he did Selena’s “Good For You”), Madison Emiko Love (G-Eazy & Halsey’s “Him & I”) and Leland (frequent Troye Sivan collaborator and the mastermind behind “Fetish”). The latter gave a bit more context on Twitter. “Straight from the queen’s mouth!” the “Mattress” songwriter wrote. “Can’t wait for everyone to hear ‘Rare.’ One of my favorite songs I’ve ever written and she sounds so, so beautiful.”
